North America Phase Converters is a leader in the phase converter and electrical industry, with all products proudly made in the USA. Phase converters create 3-phase power from single phase power to allow customers to run 3-phase equipment in their facilities without the expense of upgrading their building to 3-phase service. Rotary phase converters use a 3-phase motor to produce the 3-phase power output. Static converters electronically produce the 3-phase output.
The Challenge
Phase converters are sized to the customer’s expected equipment loads. The 3-phase output of static phase converters needs to be monitored for a variety of conditions to protect the converter and the equipment connected to it. These conditions include overload, phase angle errors, incorrect frequency, and voltages.
North American Phase Converters’ customers were asking for a digital converter. The company needed to bring their products up to speed with a competitor with one of the only digital phase converters on the market.
The Solution
The Trumeter Power Meter efficiently and accurately monitors all the parameters that are critical to the protection of the phase converter and external equipment. It is compact and cost effective making it ideal for the application.

The Story
The original conversation was with our lead progression team as they followed up on a lead from a marketing campaign that targeted phase converter manufacturers. We reached out to them and quickly determined they needed the APM (Advanced Panel Meter) power meter. We provided a sample for them to test and evaluate. They worked with our sales and engineering group to determine that the power meter was ideally suited to their application. They have designed the meter into their new static phase converter and will be producing it soon.
